Thinkings and Musings

2020 has been a tumultuous year—from the Australian bushfires to the global coronavirus pandemic to the worldwide protests against racism. Despite this bumpy start to a brand-new decade, these events have allowed humanity to witness people coming together in fighting the wildfires, caring for the sick, and supporting the oppressed. In my professional role as an educator and a graduate student, I have been reflecting on the changing higher education experience, and I hope to this space to share some of my thinkings and musings about various topics in teaching and learning.

Back in March 2020, the University of Toronto community switched to online instruction within days. As David LeFevre (2020) notes in his article, “we aren’t out of the woods yet. In fact, we are still heading inwards.” Many of us managed to survive the Winter and Summer semesters. But how do we flourish, instead of merely survive, the next academic year? How can we support humanities learners and educators in this changing environment?
